OTIS, Colo. — Otis School District, located in northeastern Colorado near the Kansas and Nebraska borders, started 2015 off in a big way. In early January, the district celebrated the completion of the new 70,000-square-foot school building that will serve generations of PK-12 Otis Bulldogs.
LAUREL, Md. — Monarch Global Academy Contract School opened in October 2014, bringing the globally minded International Baccalaureate curriculum to nearly 500 students.
WESTPORT, Wash. — Ocosta Elementary School in Westport, Wash. recently announced plans to construct a building capable of withstanding a potential tsunami. The school, located in Grays Harbor County and situated less than a mile from the Pacific coast, broke ground in January on a new gymnasium with a durable, reinforced roof that will allow the structure to serve as a tsunami refuge. KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Students of the Washington Writers’ Academy in Kalamazoo, Mich. returned to their new, “old” school on Jan. 5 after construction on the historic building had relocated them since mid-2013.

ORLANDO, Fla. — SchenkelShultz Architecture, is helping the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) build 21st century schools for 21st century learners.
WAIHAPU, Hawaii — The Hawaii Department of Education and Waihapu Intermediate School have partnered with Santa Monica, Calif.-based DLR Group to design a facility that will house the school’s new DREAMS Program. The Digital media, Robotics, Engineering/Electronics, Animation, Music and Science (DREAMS) facility will serve the school’s 1,200 seventh and eighth grade students, and allow the school to provide 21st century learning opportunities in a collaborative, student-led environment.
