Thomas Calhoun Jr.
Thomas Calhoun Jr., vice president of enrollment management at the University of North Alabama (UNA), was unanimously chosen to be the new president of Chicago State University. Calhoun will begin his new duties in January 2016, overseeing the operations of the university’s five colleges and approximately 4,800 students. He previously served as associate vice president for academic affairs at UNA, and as assistant dean for student academic services at the University of Washington’s College of Engineering. Calhoun is a founding principal of North Lawndale College Preparatory Charter High School, and served in leadership roles at Hales Franciscan High School and St. Gregory Episcopal School. He holds bachelor’s degrees in philosophy and biology and master’s degrees in both biology and educational administration. He received a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Washington.
