Christopher Rice
Christopher Rice, AIA, has joined DLR Group to lead its Higher Education Studio in Texas. Based in Austin, Rice will collaborate with design and planning teams to grow the firm’s Higher Education practice statewide. He is responsible for fostering existing and new client relationships, winning new work, and delivering planning and design solutions that meet the educational needs of colleges and universities and their surrounding communities.
Rice has dedicated his career to campus and urban planning, specializing in higher education campuses, urban design, research parks, and healthcare master planning. Over the past three decades he has completed planning projects for downtown urban areas, innovation research parks, and over 30 campus master plans across the nation. His recent work has been focused in Texas where he was the project manager and lead designer for campus plans at Texas A&M Corpus Christi, Kingsville, and San Antonio campuses, Texas State University, University of North Texas, and University of Texas at Brownsville. After earning his Master of Architecture degree from the University of Maryland, Rice worked as an adjunct faculty member and taught undergraduate and graduate level courses in interior design, architecture, and urban planning.
