H. Michael Smith

Omaha, Neb.-headquartered HDR recently announced that H. Michael Smith, AIA, LEED AP, has joined the firm as a director for HDR’s Education, Science, Tech (EST) program. He will lead the EST program in Charlotte, N.C.; Atlanta; Tampa, Fla.; Dallas and Houston, and will develop and nurture strong relationships with clients and institutions across the academic, science and technology sectors. With more than three decades of experience, Smith has devoted his career to designing facilities that advance some of society’s most ambitious and important research goals in the academic, science and technology sectors. These projects have included academic and biomedical teaching and research laboratories, biotechnology and pharmaceutical research and production facilities, cleanrooms for the manufacturing of microelectronics and medical devices, and animal research facilities. In 2013, he joined the board of directors for the Los Angeles Biomedical Research Institute at Harbor UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, Calif., helping advance its mission for developing innovative solutions for health care through biomedical discovery.
