LEX Focuses on Design and Technology
ORLANDO, Fla. — In case you missed the Learning Environments (LEX) conference at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla., we have you covered. Learning Environments, formally known as School and College Building Expo was held Jan. 29-31 and was co-located with another event, FETC, which focuses on school technology.
The trade show was jam packed with attendees and exhibitors from throughout the country showcasing current products, designs and technologies. The event featured several speakers ranging from architects, designers, engineers and administrators. Keynote speakers were also delivering messages to the attendees, including Anne P. Taylor, Ph.D and honorary AIA member. Her presentation, “Linking Architecture and Education: Sustainable Design of Learning Environments,” included research on the effects of the physical environment on learning and behavior. Dr. David Sousa, educational consultant and author also composed a presentation, “Designing Brain-friendly Schools in the Age of Accountability,” where he discussed his findings from brain research about how people learn and how that can be incorporated into the building, leading and teaching at schools.
The show featured hundreds of exhibitors and offered countless hours of knowledge about the importance of school building and design — and the current products making that happen in the industry today.
Even if you missed the event, you can be sure to pencil in the next conference, taking place July 29-31 in Boston. The Learning Environments show will be co-located this time with another conference, Campus Technology 2013. The event will take place at the Hynes Convention Center and will include presenters and a full exhibit hall.
