ST. LOUIS—The Parkway School District of the greater St. Louis area has contracted Poettker Construction of Breese, Ill., to facilitate construction management work throughout the district thanks to moneys approved by voters in the recent Prop S bond. At $265 million, this represents the largest bond issue in the history of public education in the Show Me State.
Over the next half-decade, Prop S funds will be utilized to upgrade climate controls within some school buildings, bring in the latest educational learning tech, increase safety measures and redesign playgrounds at various schools throughout the Parkway district.
Preconstruction and design are already underway, with construction estimated to commence sometime in 2023.
“We are honored to partner with Parkway School District during the planning, design, and construction phases of this district-wide improvements program,” Ryan Poettker, president of Poettker, said in a recent statement. “We look forward to collaborating with the school district, community, design partners, and trade contractors to maximize Parkway’s return on investment to build strong schools and community.”
Poettker, founded in 1980, is working as the construction manager on seven K-12 projects throughout St. Louis. In addition to construction management, Poettker is a family-owned business that provides services in design/build and general contracting.
