DIGroup Tapped to Design New Bronx Grade School

BRONX, N.Y.—DIGroup Architecture, based in New Brunswick, N.J., will be imagining its first ever ground-up public school in New York City. As architect of record for the new school that will host students from pre-K to 5th grade, DIGroup will design PS X515 for the New York City School Construction Authority (SCA).

The school will encompass 100,000 square feet over six stories and be located just across the street from Van Cortlandt Park. The school’s complement will be nearly 700 students, including nearly a hundred from the city’s Special Education District 75 Program that serves students who fall on the autism spectrum.

PS X515 will feature a library, physical therapy rooms, speech classrooms, a medical suite and ample room for administration. The school will also offer a “play roof” and various music rooms.

“We are thrilled to continue working with the New York City School Construction Authority on this impactful community project,” Jeffrey Venezia, CEO of DIGroup Architecture, said in a recent news release about the project. “With every academic facility we take on, we strive to create a sustainable, safe, functional and attractive facility that seamlessly complements the neighborhood in which it is built. This project will be no different—and we are looking forward to expanding our footprint and portfolio of projects with the largest school district in the nation.”

PS X515 is due to be open for the fall of 2027. DIGroup has also worked for the New York SCA on three other primary schools in Brooklyn and Queens. The firm is a certified minority-owned, disadvantaged and small business enterprise (MBE/DBE/SBE).
